Foundation is the most advanced responsive front-end framework in the world because of you. Our awesome community has helped us grow the framework into a top-15 open source project. And we frequently get asked how someone can contribute and be part of that community. So starting today, we've launched a new contributor page for those of you who want to get involved!
The best way for you to contribute is help us close down issues on Github, where Foundation has reached 13K stargazers. Submit a fix or feature through a pull request and you'll be listed as one of our 242 contributors. Help close down 10 issues and you'll earn a swank Yeti Tee, like the ones our models are wearing below.
Here's How You Can Help
If an issue appears to be a bug, be sure that it has the following information:
- A snippet of code or a link to code that causes the issue to occur. This could include a link to:
- The production website that experiences the issue
- The GitHub repo that contains the code
- A JSFiddle, CodePen, etc.
- Additional information about the browser and o/s being used. For example: an iPhone v6.0.1 running Safari or IE9 on Windows 7, etc.
When answering questions the following are useful:
- Providing snippets of code that help fix the issue — i.e. new HTML markup, CSS rules, JS code, etc.
- Linking to external blog posts, articles, Stack Overflow links that address the issue
- Putting together a pull request (PR) that fixes the issue and linking to it in the issue it helps to fix
Together we can grow the community even more! Helping others find solutions to their issues will make you happier. It's a great way to become involved in an open source project and improve your nerd cred (looking at you MasterBranch and Coderwall). Oh, and you get an awesome t-shirt!
