I play a lot of games, and these days a decent chunk of that is on my iPhone. Have you played something called Tiny Wings? If you own an iPod, iPad, or iPhone the odds are you have - it's tremendously popular. Simple (really, really simple) gameplay with an adorable little bird and a fun art style.
What's great about Tiny Wings is it changes every day; the levels are generated (in style and a little bit in sequence) based on the date. Something I've noticed as I've been playing is that aside from being fun, the levels that appear every day are actually a cool little point of inspiration for me.
That's a level from Tiny Wings I snapped a shot of today. Nice bold palette with some fun contrast — I really like the red, grey and green bands. And tomorrow there'll be all new colors and patterns! It's pretty rad.
I'm not saying go out and buy Tiny Wings (though you could blow 99 cents in much worse ways) but there's some great inspiration in some unexpected places. It's Friday so, go play a game! You might see something cool.
